My mom`s Proposal to FIFA

My late mom always said the reason why never liked soccer was because when a player gets injured in the course the game He is strechted off and the game continues normally without any concern for the injured player.

In her opinion the injury could be life or career threatening and so for the team to continue playing without worrying about the player`s injury makes it look like the game was more important than the players injury.

Mommy`s suggestion was that the game should be brought a hault till the player is taken care of completely and the extent of injury determined , cause of treatment prescribed , the future of the player determined , his entire team members console him then the game can be continued or even  cancelled in solidarity with the injured player.

These were my mom`s proposal for the game we all loved and as much as my kind hearted mom may mean good , the fact sill remains that Her proposals were not practical and would not be considered for a minute by FIFA or even the fans of the game.

IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO PAUSE THE GAME FOR THAT LONG FOR SYMPATHY TO BE EXPRESSED TO AN  INJURED PLAYER BEFORE THE IT CONTINUES OR POSSIBLY BE CANCELLED IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE INJURED PLAYER.

As impractical as my mom`s suggestions for the game might be , I came to understand the real life application of what she was talking about when she passed away in July 2016.

Life is like a footbal game and we are the individual players. When one gets injured through things like the loss of a loved one , failed relationships , sickness , failure at something , job loss , miscarried pregnancy , a  life threatening diagnoses or anything I came to understand what it means to be just stretched off the field to avoid and the game continueing as though NOTHING HAD HAPPENED.

I came to understand the power of solidarity from loved ones during such times and I really understood what Mommy was proposing really meant for the injured player.

I was soo touched when a lady friend called me the following day , it was a monday morning and this friend who worked in a bank called me and consoled me for close to an hour on the phone , My father`s friends who were cooperate executives and police chief`s left their busy schedules drove home as early as 7 am to spend sometime consoling the family.




These people had paused their game and like mommy said they were all coming around to console an injured player.
